LandmarkCam shows the names and distances of landmarks over your camera view. This page explains what the app does with your data. In short: we do not run accounts, we do not build profiles, and we keep no logs of where you are.
| Data | Why | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Location (GPS) | To work out which landmarks are around you and in which direction | Used on your device. A rounded position is sent to the services below to look up landmarks and ground elevation. |
| Camera | To show the live view that labels are drawn over | Stays on your device. The image is never uploaded. |
| Motion and compass sensors | To tell which way the phone is pointing | Stays on your device. |
| Photos you save | To save the screen to your photo library when you press the shutter | Stays on your device. We have no access to your library. |
| Advertising identifier | Used by Google AdMob to show ads | Google. See “Advertising” below. |
Your position is used on the device to compute bearings and distances. To fetch landmark names and ground elevation, a position is sent to:
These requests pass through a relay we operate on Cloudflare Workers, which caches results so that the same lookup is not repeated for every user. At the relay:
The app does not track your movement, does not store a location history, and does not use location in the background.
The app shows a banner ad supplied by Google AdMob. Google may collect and use an advertising identifier and related data to select and measure ads. We do not receive that data, and we do not share anything about you with Google beyond what the AdMob SDK collects on its own.
Your settings and calibration values (field of view, eye height, manual bearing and position offsets) and the cached landmark data are stored on the device only. Removing the app removes them.
The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from them.
If this policy changes, the date above changes with it.
